Well I was plugged on cghub. Seems they only allow art to stay up over a few days (3 or 1) depending on your luck. Not very long to get any notice over a weekend. I was lucky though as artists to the right literally had a one day plug. Not cool.

So now my project has a name. Thought its better than Astronaut or traveler..
Here's the 1st look at the suit. Even though I've done a few concept sculpts in mudbox. I'm sticking to this design because if I don't I'll never get this done..

This was a concept test I did a couple years back for Visual Art Production LLC.
It was going to be an idea for a movie but it got canned. It never got enough time to be textured by a texture artist so I did a quick test for the head and body.

Last year I had the privege of working with Greg Strasz(www.gregstrasz.com).

He contacted me to work on an alien concept with him. Together we brainstormed this creature. It was an amazing experience and we had tons of fun feeding off of each other ideas.

Greg had the idea of making a grey Alien but with a new twist. I was responsible for the modeling and sclulpting of the detail. Greg did these awesome renders and texturing.

We discussed all sorts of things. Like how his head would expand when he uses his brain for telekinetic synapsis. He has a nose that would breath in a sort of fish gill type of rhythme. He also has these tiny little bumps on the front that create a sort of shark like extra sensory for the Alien.

I hope you like it as much as we had fun making this.

Been a lot of early mornings trying to get this done in time. Learning vray as I go as well. Been really impressed with this renderer. Finished off the skin texture in mudbox and photoshop now. I'm pretty happy with it at this point. Also Started on the belt and sword holster. Nearly there :P

Entered a challenge on cgfeedback that only lasts a week. Challenge was a quick linkeness. Not sure I succeeded but it was fun. The model was done 98% in sculptris from a sphere. The rest was zbrush tweaking.

Hair renders done with shave hair and P_hairTk. SSS render in vray.

So after some hair pulling I managed to get out a pose. Made a crappy skeleton and posed her up. Only to have mudbox loose or flatten some details. So I'll need to redo details-_-. Decided I'd try some renders in modo as well. Some photoshop tweaks as well.. Hope you like it.

So I recently redid the entire model for my dad. I came across some more ref that my mom had buried away so I was able too get a much better likeness. I hope too do some facial shapes for him soon. Sorry its the same thing :/. I just like working on this because I'm never satisfied with it.

So I've been trying to learn how to create my own hdri images. I also wanted to learn how the mental ray rayswitch node works. Really cool stuff. Though I'm one of those guys that easily forgets the set up of these nodes heh. These are some renders I did of the crayfish character I did awhile back. Using a photo I took and hdri I did using my canon eos 400d, an umbrella and a chair with wheels(yes I need a decent tripod and pan head).

This is a portrait I've been working on for a really long time. Its dedicated to my father who passed away 2 years ago on the 28th of August 2007. He was only 53 years old.
He was in icu for 3 months with a cyst in his brain. After surgery he was fine. But slowly slipped back into a coma state. I got to tell him I love him. Its still difficult though. Not having him around. His personality ws always happy and friendly. Anyone that met him liked him straight away.
I love you dad.
I'll continue to work on this. As I keep learning new things. I hope you like him. He was modelled in maya and sculpted in zbrush. The render was done in mental ray. Hair is shave and a haircut. No compositing work done.

I recently visited my granma and while I was there she gave me really old art book. She got it as a present in 1938. Wow! The book has a few michelangelo sketches in it. Its got some character. I love the look of the old brown pages. Anyway. I decided to get out my pencil and paper and drew one. Hope you like it. I added the old brown paper effect in photoshop by the way ;). Its been a really long time since I drew anything.

So I recently just started checking out Modo. All I can say is wow! Well. Its rendering anyway. I haven't experimented a whole lot with the modeling tools yet. I'm busy exploring the fur and I'm pleasantly surprised. But lets not get hopes up too high:).

I recently took part in the HMC over at cgtalk.

I finished this in 3 weeks. But rendering took the extra week to sort out a look. That and pc problems krept in.

The Hair was done using shave and a haircut rendered as hair primitives in raytracing mode for mental ray. I also used 2 area lights and an ibl globe with an image for finalgather.

The model was done in maya and sculpted in zbrush as were all the expressions. I didn't have a chance to create displacement maps for each expression so I just rendered out a highres geo with normal map applied.

Ok so when I started grangle I always intended to have a bad guy for him. That was Cray. I finally decided to put the 2 together in a movie poster type of image. Its still a wip. I'll be changing a few things on grangles pose but cray is done for the time being. Hope you like it so far..

So because I'm not happy with the water model I did for aspen(its to static I think), I've now started learning realflow. Go figure. What I learnt from this sim is that it needs a pre-sim. For the water to settle in. It took a day to sim this. It gets a bit tedious. But hopefully I'll get a decent result for the final image.
